Amazed by You God

It’s amazing to see God at work at Hopewell. We had two great services where God moved in the hearts and lives of many people Sunday morning. One person was saved in the first service and two were saved in the second service. That reminds me of this verse, Hebrews 4:12a. “For the word of God is living and powerful” (NKJV). His word never returns void. Praise God for all He is doing at Hopewell.
When you pray today, pray for these three things:
1) Draw me closer to You Lord.
2) Open new doors of opportunities to minister and witness.
3) Ask God to do things that you cannot explain.

Three Years Already

I can’t believe that it has been three years since coming to Hopewell. The last three years have been so awesome and has gone by so fast and yet it feels like I’ve been here forever. It’s awesome to be a part of a loving and caring church family, a church family that loves the Lord and shares His love with others. Let’s keep it up for the years to come for His glory forever.

For Popcorn Lovers Only

My Granny used to make my cousin and me caramel popcorn when we were little. Man, was it good. Well, about two weeks ago I started craving some good old caramel popcorn. I gave my mom a call to see if she had the recipe of Granny’s caramel popcorn. Praise the Lord, she did. If you like caramel popcorn you have to give this a try.

Pop 1 bag of microwave popcorn. Be sure to remove the un-popped kernels.

* 1/4 cup butter
* 1/2 cup brown sugar
* 2 tablespoons light corn syrup
* 1/4 teaspoon salt
* 1/8 teaspoon baking soda

To make caramel - On medium heat, combine butter, brown sugar, corn syrup, and salt. Heat mixture, stirring constantly until butter is melted and sugar is dissolved. It takes about three minutes. Add baking soda and stir until mixture is evenly colored, light & foamy. Pour caramel sauce over the popcorn stirring well to coat all of it. Spread the caramel popcorn on wax paper to cool. Then enjoy.

A Christmas Gift

What an awesome God we serve. He showed up and showed off Sunday the 21^st at Hopewell. God used the Celebration Choir to present the gospel message of Jesus Christ through music in a big way. There were three boys that gave their lives to Jesus that morning. Praise God for saving those three lives. God never ceases to amaze me.

Thank you choir for the hard work you put into this cantata and allowing God to use you through music.

Conscience

In my quiet time this morning I asked God to speak to me as I read His Word. This morning I read 2 Timothy 1:1-7. Now, I had to go back to verse 3 where Paul writes “I thank God, whom I serve with a pure conscience.” Then I went back to 1 Timothy 1:5 where Paul writes “Now the purpose of the commandment is love from a pure heart, from a good conscience, and from faith.” Well, I got stuck on the word “conscience” and this is what John MacArthur had to say about these two verses from the John MacArthur Study Bible NKJV:

God created man with a “conscience” as his self-judging faculty. Because God has written His law on man’s heart (Rom. 2:15), man knows the basic standard of right and wrong. When he violates that standard, his conscience produces guilt, shame, and doubt as warnings of threats to the soul’s well-being (John 8:9; 1 Cor. 8:7, 10, 12; Titus 1:15; Heb. 10:22). On the other hand, when a believer does God’s will, he enjoys the affirmation, assurance, peace, and joy of a good conscience (Acts 23:1; 24:16; Heb. 13:18; 1 Pet. 1:16, 21).

Think about it. When we sin, our conscience kicks in and we feel guilt and shame. That’s why it is so important to ask God to forgive us when we sin so we can have a clear conscience. Oh, and have you ever done something for someone thinking you were blessing them and in turn you received a blessing and felt really good inside? Well, that comes from a good conscience in doing God’s will and you will enjoy the peace and joy that comes from that good conscience.

Worship

Worship! What is worship? Our English word worship simply means “worth-ship”. We worship God because He is worthy. “You are worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honor and power” (Rev. 4:11). “Worthy is the Lamb who was slain” (Rev. 5:12). We are not worthy of worship, idols are not worthy of worship, only God is worthy of our worship.

Are you a true worshiper? John 4:23 says “Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks”. True worshipers are what the Father is seeking. True worshipers are all those who worship God through the Son, from the heart. Worship is not just for Sunday mornings, it should be an everyday occasion. It should be a life style for every believer. Our purpose for worship must be to please God and glorify Him alone in our everyday lives.
